I got this recipe from my mom's recipe collection notebook.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup margarine
 - 2 cups brown sugar
 - 2 large eggs
 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
 - 2 cups all purpose flour
 - 1 teaspoon salt
 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
 - 1 cup dessicated coconut or oatmeal

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease one 9x13 rectangular pan.
 - Melt margarine in microwave for about 40 seconds. Cool slightly.
 - Add in brown sugar and mix with a wooden spoon.
 - Add in eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
 - Add vanilla. Mix.
 - Sift flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda together in a separate medium sized. Add in dessicated coconut or oatmeal with dry ingredients and mix well.
 - Mix dry ingredients with the butter-egg mixture and mix until everything has moistened.
 - Pour into greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted at the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
 - Cool slightly and cut into squares.
